Popspoken: Priscilla Shunmugam — fashion designer, mentor, disruptor

LASALLE and Ong Shunmugam have launched the Fashion Forward Bursary and LASALLE x Ong Shunmugam Mentorship Programme, an initiative to support Singapore’s next generation of fashion creatives.

The Fashion Forward Bursary was kickstarted by Priscilla Shunmugam, founder of Ong Shunmugam, in aid of talented and financially challenged students who otherwise may not be able to pursue their passion in fashion. It is complemented by the LASALLE x Ong Shunmugam Mentorship Programme, which comprises an industry-led project and a dedicated mentorship for final year students.

Industry as classroom: PEDRO partners with Diploma in Creative Direction for Fashion

PEDRO partnered with LASALLE College of the Arts in an initiative to support and nurture the next generation of fashion creatives in Singapore. The shoe brand worked with final year students from the Diploma in Creative Direction for Fashion programme, to create exciting concepts that tell the story of PEDRO's EOS Sneaker through the eyes of Gen Z.

Buy Better. Wear Longer – a collaboration with Levi’s Strauss & Co

In April 2021, Levi’s Strauss & Co launched a campaign called "Buy Better, Wear Longer” which aims to raise awareness on global clothing consumption by encouraging consumers to consider their apparel choices and wear each item longer.The experience with the project taught her to work with limited resources.

Lianhe Zaobao: Young art creators must break through boundaries of their disciplines

Commissioned by the newly opened GR.ID shopping mall, LASALLE fine arts alumnus Benedict Yu, 25, and fashion designer Joanna Lim, 27, have partnered with five students from other institutions to create Singapore's largest hand-painted mural in a shopping mall. Titled Motherboard, the mural is 29 metres long and 12 metres tall, and took seven months to create.
