  • MA (Design), The Open University, UK
  • BA (Multimedia Studies), Central Queensland University, Australia

Ginette Chittick’s personal interest in the correlation between visuals, music, and fashion prompted her to pursue an MA in Design, exploring the intertextuality of these art forms.

Before embarking on a fulfilling academic career, Ginette worked as a web consultant on projects for a vast range of high-profile clients which included Coca-Cola, HSBC, Citibank, PricewaterhouseCoopers Management Consultants, The Substation, Discovery Channel, IDA Singapore, Aon Asia and Aware Singapore.

Ginette was the co-founder and creative director of fashion and accessories label FrüFrü & Tigerlily. The cult label represented Singapore in the 2008 Malaysian International Fashion Week and prior to that was nominated for Juice’s Best Local Fashion Label in 2007.

Ginette brings her rich experience in music (as a professional deejay and musician in the underground music scene), graphic design and fashion into creating a dynamic interdisciplinary learning environment. In her time at LASALLE, she has led three programmes successfully through validation – BA (Hons) Fashion Communication Programme, Diploma in Fashion, and Diploma in Creative Direction for Fashion – of which she is the Programme Leader.

Ginette was nominated for Women’s Weekly’s Women of Our Times Fashion and Style Category in 2008 and included in Tatler’s 2020 Asia’s Most Stylish annual list for her achievements in fashion and music. She has been featured extensively in the media for her interdisciplinary approach to art and life.

In her art practice, she investigates the role of domestic and perceived feminised craft practices and its place in contemporary art and design. Her practice encompasses techniques such as tapestry weaving, and latch-hook coupled with her interest in interior architectural design objects. Her materials include handspun yarn made from locally harvested kapok cotton and merino wool.

She is currently reading her PhD at London College of Communication, University of the Arts London and her focus areas are subculture studies, specifically punk in Singapore, and graphics.
