Lianhe Zaobao: Will the next top influencer be an AI?

Virtual influencers are on the rise. Created by designers using computer or artificial intelligence technology, they proliferate on social media platforms and their realism makes it hard to tell the difference between them and their human counterparts. Case in point is BA(Hons) Fashion Media and Industries graduand Reyme Husaini’s creation for his final year project, Ava Lee Gram.

Students from the Diploma in Creative Direction for Fashion and Diploma in Dance collaborate by revisiting the ancient art of origami in new and transformative modes, rooted in its underlying principle of the fold. The students are stretched beyond their disciplines working experientially with the activity of folding as well as responding to minimalist stimuli of anti-form visual artists.

My experience at: Harpers BAZAAR x Chanel Paris immersion programme

In October 2019, three LASALLE students travelled to Paris for a four-day immersion programme fully hosted by Chanel and Harper’s BAZAAR. This collaboration, exclusively open to LASALLE students, aimed to inspire budding artists and designers as they visited the cornerstones of the Chanel brand in the heart of Europe’s art and fashion capital.

Minimalism/Maximalism is a collaborative project between LASALLE's School of Fashion, The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology (MFIT) and the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York.

The exhibition expands on the cross-pollination of ideas of minimalist and maximalist aesthetics in contemporary fashion in Singapore and New York. Students responded to historical and cultural references from the 1960s and 1970s from their respective cities.
