BA(Hons) Fine Arts graduate Joanne Lim trained as a lawyer before exploring a career in the arts. She spoke to Her World magazine about studying again at the age of 34, while caring for her daughter.

BA(Hons) Musical Theatre alumna Sofie Binte Shahrin Buligis almost didn't choose to study musical theatre because she was shy, and had made plans to study history instead. However, she auditioned for LASALLE after graduating from junior college, and the rest is history.

For Sofie, a lot of her work is informed by her desire to create positive social change and uplift the voices of other women and people of minority races.

Noticing that not many women wear kebaya these days, a 22-year-old from LASALLE College of the Arts came up with a new idea to make the kebaya popular again.

Iris Zulfa tries to accomplish this through a kebaya collection she designed for her final year project.

While Nuryn Adryana Binte Abdul Halim was a student in the BA(Hons) Film programme, she acted as the director, writer and producer for the short film, Duka Lara, which made its world premiere at the International Documentary and Short Film Festival DokuFest held in Kosovo. The film tells the story of a fisherman who faces loneliness while living on a fish farm until a mystery occurs.

BA(Hons) Music graduate Niranjan Pandian grew up surrounded by music, and developed a passion for music at an early age. He realised the greatness of the flute through his guru Dr Ghanavenothan Retnam. Mixing both Indian and Indo jazz music, Niranjan has composed various songs and performed at events after learning to play both the Indian and western flute. In this interview with Tamil Murasu, Niranjan shares more about his journey in music.

BA(Hons) Animation Art alumna Calleen Koh is the only Singaporean whose short film, To Kill The Birds and the Bees, was nominated for the Yugo BAFTA Student Awards this year. Not only was her film able to stand out from the 715 submissions BAFTA received, she was also the only Singaporean and one of a handful of Asians who were nominated.

Calleen shares, “I am a little bit rebellious and find it more fun to try something which I have not tried before and hopefully in that way, push the boundaries of storytelling in the media.”

After finding success in the world of banking, LASALLE alumna Cheryl Ann Spencer decided to switch paths and pursue her passion for jazz piano at the age of 42.

Cheryl, who graduated with a BA(Hons) Music in 2020, shares that with a strong and professional staff, she was certain that LASALLE could help her to bridge the music gap.

After developing the first batch of Ferticlay, a new sustainable clay material made of food waste, BA(Hons) Interior Design graduate Jodie Monteiro decided to hone her product design and business acumen by joining LASALLE’s Programme for LASALLE Creative Entrepreneurs (PLACE), which provided her with guidance on how to develop her ideas into a business.
