Kumari Nahappan started her career in interior design, before she enrolled in LASALLE’s McNally School of Fine Arts as a mature student. Since 2000, she has been known for her public art works based on nature, mostly in the shape of fruits, seeds and spices.
Lianhe Zaobao: Entrepreneurship before graduation
LASALLE’s Programme for LASALLE Creative Entrepreneurs (PLACE) is a creative entrepreneurship programme by the Faculty of Design. It mentors fresh graduates or students to develop their ideas into ventures that can inspire, help and serve their communities.
One project, Ferticlay, is a new sustainable clay material made of food waste such as ground-up eggshells and nut husks. Ferticlay is founded by BA(Hons) Interior Design graduate Jodie Monteiro, together with NUS student Ong Kok Chung.
