Yong De Han

The open call to the brief, “Visions of 2010”, received over 60 submissions and De Han’s collection Siapa Nama Kayu? impressed judges.
Founded in 1984, LASALLE College of the Arts is one of Asia’s leading tertiary institution in cutting edge contemporary arts and design education and practice. The college offers more than 30 diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
LASALLE graduates come from many different walks of life, each with their individual goals and passions that saw them through their years at the College. Six of our graduates who received a First Class BA(Hons) degree at our 32nd Convocation ceremony come together to talk about how their education at LASALLE has shaped both their personal and professional development, sharing stories of inspiration, support and how they overcame the challenges they faced.
Frida Kahlo was a woman far ahead of her time. In early 20th century Mexico where the patriarchy rule, Frida was a feminist using art and fashion to channel her progressive thoughts - all while fighting immense pain from polio and a fatal bus accident, both of which left her heavily debilitated.
LASALLE BA(Hons) Fashion Design and Textiles graduand Michelle Sutanto’s outstanding showing at the Graduate Fashion Show 2018 earned her a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Wattens, Austria, home of the world-renowned crystal company Swarovski.
Every year, for the past three years, a graduate from LASALLE's School of Fashion has been working with Mr Baey Yam Keng, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Transport & Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, to design his NDP outfits for the past three years. This practice began when Mr Baey Yam Keng started attending The LASALLE Show Exhibition three years ago.
The inaugural Asian Fashion Graduate Showcase (AF/GS) served as a forum to foster and build collaborative partnerships between fashion schools in Asia. Featuring the most innovative collections by emerging graduate designers, the AF/GS paves the way for a more vibrant fashion design scene in the region. Asian fashion schools, well-known for their fashion design programmes, showcased the works of their top graduates in a runway show of 80 garments.

This exhibition features the works of current and recent students from LASALLE’s Faculty of Design and defines the role of design in shaping how our world could be.
Each design represents a different worldview and is informed by the designer’s own experience and interactions. The process of design involves investigation, thinking and learning, problem solving, planning and making.
