ANCER is Asia Pacific’s first Network for Cultural Education and Research. An initiative of LASALLE College of the Arts, the network was formed as a way to stimulate international inquiry and research in this sector. The aim is to contribute to a better understanding of the unique factors contributing to the study of arts management and cultural policy in the Asia Pacific region. The production of research and new knowledge through this network will, in the long term, contribute to the reservoir of arts knowledge in the Asia Pacific region, without losing the global perspective.

An important aspect to ANCER was the inclusion of a panel for young cultural policy researchers from the region. It hosted a dialogue session about cultural collaborations and exchanges between Asia and Europe, which was organised in collaboration with ENCATC – the leading European network on cultural management and cultural policy education, and with support from the ASEF Creative Networks initiative of the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF). This project was selected for support from over 50 proposals submitted through a competitive call in 2013.

The LASALLE Cultural Leaders’ Lab extended an invitation to ANCER conference delegates to take part in the final Open Conversation with the six recipients of the National Arts Council’s inaugural Cultural Fellowship.  This took place in The Creative Cube on 13 November 2014.

The second ANCER conference was organised by the Arts Management Programme of the Faculty for the Creative Industries at LASALLE.
