At LASALLE's 32nd Convocation ceremony, the prestigious McNally Award for Excellence in the Arts was presented to Michelle Ler, who graduated top of her cohort in the BA(Hons) Musical Theatre Programme.

LASALLE graduates come from many different walks of life, each with their individual goals and passions that saw them through their years at the College. Six of our graduates who received a First Class BA(Hons) degree at our 32nd Convocation ceremony come together to talk about how their education at LASALLE has shaped both their personal and professional development, sharing stories of inspiration, support and how they overcame the challenges they faced.

The support provided by the government, in terms of issuing grants to artists and providing infrastructure for more art spaces, has borne fruit. Singapore has come a long way. Once referred to as a 'cultural desert', the little red dot is now a major arts hub with an annual staple of high-profile arts and cultural events that are well-attended by locals and foreigner alike.

In today's age, when one literally has to 'dress to impress', more men are opting for made-to-measure services for their formal attire that can see them through various settings such as interviews and business meetings. The tailoring industry is thus flourishing, and differentiating themselves from the regular run-of-the-mill suit shops are three businesses - Made Suits, SuitYourself Singapore, and Edit Suits Co.

The LASALLE Show Exhibition is a showcase of carefully-researched and thought-provoking projects from the final year students of the College's numerous disciplines. Three graduands' work, in particular, stood out for their focus in contributing back to society.

Frida Kahlo was a woman far ahead of her time. In early 20th century Mexico where the patriarchy rule, Frida was a feminist using art and fashion to channel her progressive thoughts - all while fighting immense pain from polio and a fatal bus accident, both of which left her heavily debilitated.

Designers are creators who must move closely with the times. This year's design graduates from LASALLE showcased graduation projects that reflected current trends such as how our lives are intertwined with technology and smart equipment, and also tackled issues ranging from Singapore's WWII history to surveillance.
