ConcertThis Lunchtime Concert will feature Elisabeth Harnik, an Austria-based pianist and composer whose work blurs genre boundaries. Trained in classical piano and composition, she writes commissioned works and her compositions are performed regularly at concerts and festivals for new music. On top of composing, Harnik performs as a pianist at concerts and festivals for improvised music. She improvises within an electro-acoustic inspired sound-world, using specific preparations and extended techniques while pushing the limitations of the piano. Her performances draw from physicality and introspection, intuitive playing and high precision. She will be joined in this concert by School of Contemporary Music lecturer, Dr Darren Moore and Head of School, Dr Timothy O’Dwyer.
Organised by the School of Contemporary Music, the Lunchtime Concert Series aims to provide a platform for leading creative musical figures from Singapore and overseas. With a focus on showcasing original work, the eclectic curation introduces both hidden and well-known talents to a broad cross section of music students and the general public.
