Social media platforms have been pivotal in redefining the conduct of contemporary society and video-based platforms such as YouTube serve as key drivers in the democratisation of creative, vernacular, intimate and affective expressions.
This lecture examines several recent editions of the China Pavilion at the Venice Biennale through an exploration of temporality. It considers how these art exhibitions deploy a politics of time by mobilising China’s dynastic past and its technology-driven future to engender images of the nation.
The seminar discusses innovative concepts at the intersections of blockchain technology like Decentralised Autonomous Organisations (DAOs). It will feature Kenza Zouari, curator and member of the Cyber Baat, as a guest speaker who will discuss the rise of digital collectivism as well as artistic, social and economical aspects of these emerging organisations.
About the speakers
The seminar questions what the metaverse is and how merging of the physical and digital realms could become a reality for all of us in the future. But is this the way to go? Featuring a talk from a representative from Serial Co, a Singapore-based, inter-media, polymorphous creative art studio, the seminar shares creative tech experiences in navigating and building virtual spaces commercially while discussing what it all could mean for us moving forward.
About the speakers
The seminar explores various NFT marketplaces, different purchasing processes as well as facilitates a hands-on workshop on minting your very own NFT as well as smart contract on a test network. This will be beneficial for those who are curious how collectors and artists are using the marketplaces as well as those who want to familiarise themselves with interactions on the blockchain in a safe and guided environment.
