Laurence Vandenborre

Founder & Managing Director, The Red Pencil Humanitarian Mission

Laurence is the founder of The Red Pencil, a non-profit organisation that helps children, adults and families through art therapy. To date, The Red Pencil has undertaken 23 humanitarian missions to 21 countries to provide therapy and support to survivors of earthquakes, typhoons, traumas of abuse and neglect, and more. 

As a registered Art Therapist, her interests include working with adults and family dynamics, in a multicultural context, dealing with self-esteem and self-confidence, relationship issues, stress and emotional traumas, addictions, depression, bereavement, and parenting issues. 

For the last 10 years, she has also been pioneering and practicing art therapy at the Singapore Changi Women Prison, where she handled individual and group cases, as well as programmes specially designed by the prison to help inmates struggling with mental issue, such as The Recovering Grace Programme. 

Laurence is a Board Director of Very Special Arts Singapore (VSA), a charity whose mission is to bring the benefits of the arts for people with disabilities. Her role at VSA is to oversee the visual arts initiatives and programmes.
