A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between LASALLE and Niigata University to propel discussions and projects surrounding archiving methods of animation art. One such, and the first ever in Singapore, is an exhibition – A World Is Born: Emerging Arts & Designs in 1980s Japanese Animation – that showcases conceptual sketches and notes by then-young Gainax members. Director and founding partner Hiroyuki Yamaga was in Singapore to open the exhibition, as well as to reconnect with four of LASALLE’s BA(Hons) Animation Art students who visited Japan last year on an exchange trip.
