In commemoration of Singapore’s 55th National Day this year, Netflix launched over 100 locally-produced TV series and films on its platform.
To mark the occasion, the streaming giant teamed up with students from LASALLE’s School of Design Communication to re-create posters of these local classics. The titles chosen include the classic TV sitcoms Under One Roof and Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd, as well as well-loved films 12 Storeys and I Not Stupid.
Students did their research by asking members of the older generation to recount their fondest memories of the shows, then came up with the concept based on their descriptions.
Daphne Cheong, who created the poster design for I Not Stupid, shared, "Opportunities such as this are important as it expands our repertoire and adds depth to our portfolio. Beyond teaching us about the need to do primary research, this was also a fun project to be a part of as it allows us to improve intergenerational dialogue."
