Designing a flagship boutique in collaboration with L’OCCITANE

L’OCCITANE teamed up with students from LASALLE’s School of Spatial & Product Design to conceptualise their latest flagship store at ION Orchard.

Five students from BA(Hons) Interior Design programme responded to the brand’s brief by fusing the best of Singapore and Provence culture. Inspired by L’OCCITANE’s handmade products, the students incorporated locally-sourced, woven rattan in their design. When layered on top of another, the material creates light dimensions to the space. Coupled with a backdrop of 150,000 dried immortelle flowers, imported straight from France, the retail experience is unlike any other.

Colours also play a part in the design. In keeping with the brand image of L’OCCITANE, the students selected earthy and warm hues.

The team shared: “Working on this project with L’OCCITANE has enabled us to experience firsthand the challenges of designing outside a classroom. This was an opportunity for us to take on a real brief, realising our design ideas for a timeless and well-established brand. We learned quickly to see things from the client’s point of view and sharpen our critical and creative thinking skills.”
