In a unique collaboration with Wisma Geylang Serai, students from three education institutions were invited to participate in the community project Public Canvass – Geylang Serai Heritage. The project celebrates the heritage of Geylang Serai, and encourages social interactions and bonding among different communities of all ages and races.
Students from LASALLE College of the Arts’ Diploma in Fine Arts programme created artworks based on the theme ‘Geylang Serai: 80s to 90s’ and featured illustrations of Engku Aman Road and Geylang Serai Road during that era. The artworks were then digitalised, printed on sticker material and installed across 16 panels between Wisma Geylang Serai and Onan Road.
International student Nguyen Tran Chau Anh took this opportunity to research and learn more about Singaporean culture. She shared that, “I had a chance to create and show my work to the public as well receive feedback from my lecturers and others to improve my practice in the future."
