ExhibitionNo Harm No Foul is an exhibition of works in-progress by LASALLE’s Level 3 BA(Hons) Fine Arts students.
No Harm No Foul reveals the indistinct boundaries between ‘doing wrong’ and grasping the positive effects and affects of mistakes in art-making. Through a diversity of media—ranging from painting, photography, sculpture and moving image—the exhibition celebrates the journey of artistic production in all its aspects, successes and failures alike. Mistakes, sometimes considered as ‘failings’ are a necessary and unavoidable stepping stone in artistic development.
No Harm No Foul captures a dynamic choreography of relationships that stretches across private and public, social and natural, as well as real and virtual spaces. The exhibition emphasises the artists’ abilities to handle struggles in art-making across art forms and crafts, while going through episodes of diffidence and explorations. This journey of navigating the self has shaped their relationships, marked their identities and understanding of failure and learning, as well as demonstrated resilience.
