Date & Time
Date: Mon 31 Oct 2022
Basement 1, The Singapore Airlines Theatre, LASALLE’s McNally Campus
Just as the spiritual jazz of John and Alice Coltrane, Pharaoh Sanders, Don Cherry and others ushered in a new era of awakening in the 60s and 70s, New Spirits will be reinventing and resurrecting music for the dawn of a new post-pandemic epoch. In a time of healing and renewal, New Spirits takes the feeling of possibility from this timeless and evocative music to lead us into the next generation.
New Spirits will feature Singapore’s most fearless sonic adventurers led by Tim O’Dwyer, Head of the School of Contemporary Music, on saxophones. The performance will also feature LASALLE lecturers Darren Moore on drums and Christy Smith on bass, with alumni Rachma Lim on piano / keys, Ridz Razali on percussion, with special guest Andy Chia on dizi.
The Lunchtime Concert Series aims to provide a platform for leading creative musical figures from Singapore and overseas. With a focus on showcasing original work, the eclectic curation features a broad cross section of musical styles designed to expose LASALLE music students and the general public to both hidden and well-known talents.
