LASALLE is pleased to announce the introduction of the Cultural Leaders’ Lab – a specialised Lab for experienced arts managers and practitioners who wish to broaden their intellectual and professional horizons.

The Programme is designed and managed by the College’s Faculty for the Creative Industries, led by Faculty Dean Professor Ruth Bereson. It will support the NAC Cultural Fellowship’s aim of developing outstanding individuals who have the potential to contribute in leadership roles in the arts and cultural sector of Singapore.

Under this fellowship, selected individuals will be fully funded up to S$50,000 to participate in the Cultural Leaders’ Lab to commence in December 2013. While maintaining their professional practice, participants will have the opportunity, through a year-long sequence of conversations, seminars and field trips, to engage in broad and far reaching questions about the arts, their significance and place in society.

The time commitment will be five events of a maximum two days duration held on Saturdays, Sundays and/or Mondays, a field trip to North America for two weeks in March/April 2014 and a field trip to Hong Kong for three to four days. Fellows will be supported in full covering international travel, accommodation, per diem relating to the field trips and programme fees.

As mature professionals, Fellows will have a significant role to play in the Lab working alongside facilitators, thought leaders and arts professionals in Singapore and internationally to raise and address questions which are of importance to themselves and the field. In addition, Fellows will have access to a grant of S$5,000 to design an E88investigative project, on a subject of his/her own choosing. During the course of the Lab there will be two opportunities to present their work at a public forum.

Dr Ruth Bereson was the Dean, Faculty of Creative Industries from Sep 2012 – Aug 2015.
