Minister for Education Mr Lawrence Wong has announced that LASALLE College of the Arts will become part of Singapore’s first university of the arts, in alliance with the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA).
The new university is anticipated to be set up within the next three to four years. It will leverage strengths from both institutions, while ensuring that our unique heritages continue to be cherished. In this alliance, LASALLE and NAFA will remain separate legal entities and we will continue to run our own programmes, while creating opportunities for greater cross- institution collaboration and projects, research, sharing of learning resources, as well as industry partnerships and attachments. It will also allow for better integration of select corporate and student functions.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) has appointed a Pro-Tem Committee chaired by Prof Chan Heng Chee to work closely with LASALLE and NAFA, to develop the structure and operating model of the new university of the arts.
