Media release: LASALLE College of the Arts ranks third in Singapore for Art and Design higher education in QS World University Rankings for 2021

For the first time, LASALLE College of the Arts has been ranked in the authoritative Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings. As the only world ranking compiled for art and design institutions, QS listed LASALLE third in Singapore, top 50 in Asia, and top 151-200 Art & Design tertiary education institutions globally.

For a young specialist institution of 37 years, the local ranking positions LASALLE College of the Arts closest to two of Singapore’s leading universities, National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University, and thus ranks LASALLE as the leading creative arts education institution in Singapore.

Within ASEAN, LASALLE ranks among the top 10 institutions, and among specialist arts institutions, LASALLE is ranked in the top 10 in Asia as well as second in ASEAN, an impressive outcome for the College’s rankings debut.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021 evaluates more than 3,800 individual university programs, taken by students at more than 1,440 universities in 85 locations across the world, across 51 academic disciplines.

The global ranking positions LASALLE with some of the world leading creative arts institutions, including Beijing Film Academy (China), Central Academy of Drama (China), University for the Creative Arts (UK), University of Falmouth (UK) and Ravensbourne University London (UK), as well as highly established universities with long histories such as University of Glasgow (UK), University of Auckland (New Zealand), and University of Queensland (Australia). It speaks to the growing reputation of LASALLE as a provider of high-quality arts education.

Notes on the QS World University Rankings for Art & Design

QS Art & Design rankings are based on academic reputation and employer reputation.

Academic reputation – looks at which institutions are most-highly regarded by the global academic community. Between 2016 and 2020, QS collected votes from over 100,000 academics around the world. Each academic counted has given their opinion on universities in their fields of expertise.

Employer reputation – examines which institutions are regarded by the world’s hiring managers as nurturing the most talented, employable graduates. The employability metric is based on employer reputation. Over 50,000 global employer votes have been taken into account between 2016 and 2020 providing a large pool of information in terms of hiring levels.
