The Straits Times: Fashion graduates' creations hit the runway

It is fashion season in May, with many local tertiary institutions staging runways for their fashion graduands. Behind the glitz and glamour though, there is much to be done. According to Dinu Bodiciu, lecturer-in-charge of LASALLE’s BA(Hons) Fashion Design and Textiles programme, the graduation project not only includes the production of a capsule collection, but also “styling, portfolio development, a self-directed photoshoot, and industry collaborations.”

In exposing graduands to the full spectrum of work required to be professional designers, the College hopes to prepare them to be leaders and influences in the field. Headlining this round-up of what is on offer is LASALLE graduand Sandy Ong. Her use of every off-cut from the pattern-cutting process is a nod towards championing sustainability.
