The Straits Times: From bespoke to fast fashion

BA(Hons) Fashion Design and Textiles alumnus Rena Kok is the first Singaporean designer to be offered a collaboration with Shein, one of the fastest-growing e-commerce companies in the world. The trendy China-based fashion retailer invited Rena to create an eight-piece collection and she saw this as an opportunity to reach new audiences.

The bespoke designer shared more about her design career, from studying at LASALLE where she was given creative freedom to experiment, to winning second runner-up in the Harper’s Bazaar Asia NewGen Fashion Award and creating a capsule collection for the Textile and Fashion Federation Singapore.

Rena is featured in Rave, a series of videos produced by Singapore Press Holdings in partnership with the Infocomm Media Development Authority which showcases young, up-and-coming fashion designers based in Singapore who are making their mark in the industry.
