Joint research and student exchange project with Sangmyung University, South Korea

Sangmyung University has always believed in cultivating a harmonic character that is required by the era. Its charter is premised on creative, practical, and competent humanistic principles that are founded on truth, justice and love for the past 70 years. It has made efforts to create new fields of study and conduct leading research to fulfil the demands of the era and society.

From 2011–2016, LASALLE’s Faculty of Design has been collaborating annually with Sangmyung University, South Korea, on the Linking Cities, Designing Experiences project. Students have the valuable opportunity to participate in student exchanges and joint exhibitions.

Past projects:
2013 – Visualising: The Value of the City, Earl Lu Gallery, LASALLE, Singapore
Weaving between urbanism, sociology and the visual culture, Visualising: The Value of the City studies the convergence and the interlaced ubiquity between two cities, Seoul and Singapore. By documenting the “space-in-between”, this research aims to address the micro-politics of the exclusive space and explore the rhetoric of the city as a medium.

2011 –  Ubuntu International Design Symposium, Seoul, Korea
LASALLE students from Design Communication, Fashion Design & Textiles and Interior Design participated in this collaborative design exhibition. The event aimed to further develop students’ research skills and understanding of cultural and contemporary design in urban settings. Dean of the Faculty of Design, Nur Hidayah, was an invited guest speaker.
