One of the most diverse and prolific designers of his generation, Karim has the ability to cross-pollinate ideas, materials, behaviours, and aesthetics from one typology to the next, crossing boundaries and broadening consumer horizons.

His winning streak includes awards for the Garbo waste can and Oh Chair for Umbra; interior designs such as the Morimoto restaurant, Philadelphia and Semiramis hotel, Athens; and exhibitions for LG Hausys and Audi. High-profile clients like Citibank, Samsung and Veuve Clicquot flock to him for his Midas touch in design and branding.

Karim is also a perennial winner of the Red Dot Award, Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award, Interior Design Best of Year Award and IDSA Industrial Design Excellence Award. Frequently lauded in magazines such as Time, Financial Times, Esquire and GQ, Karim’s endless pursuit of Sensual Minimalism – where objects communicate, engage, and inspire, yet remain minimal – sees him straddling disciplines from art and fashion to music, and presenting them in his signature superlative style.

In the LASALLE Public Lecture Series, Karim talked about how in his unique role as a cultural design editor of our physical world, he has worked with companies to decrease their product lines, streamline their production, increase their efficiency and elevate the quality of their products.
