Creative Writing: Writing Books for Young Children

Fans of children's literature—learn how to transpose your love of the imaginative world of little ones' books into actual writing. Children’s literature opens up and taps into a variety of key skills in creative writing, such as visual literacy, characterisation, storytelling, poetry and voice.

About the trainer
Ng Swee San has scripted for critically-acclaimed local television shows such as Code of Law, The Pupil, Titoudao (2020) and Tanglin. She has also written for popular children’s shows such as Leo the Wildlife Ranger (2022), Ollie (2021) and Totally Toto (2018).

For more than eight years as President of Screenwriters Association, she forged alliances with statutory boards and professional associations. Her expertise as a media professional was recognised with a SkillsFuture Fellowship.

Apart from teaching scriptwriting at the Puttnam School of Film & Animation at LASALLE College of the Arts for 10 years, Swee San designs the course material and facilitates the dramatic writing course for the MA Creative Writing programme at LASALLE.
