Programme Leader (Diploma in Performance)
The School of Dance & Theatre, which resides within the Faculty of Performing Arts, seeks to appoint a Programme Leader for the Diploma in Performance programme. Reporting to the Dean, Faculty of Performing Arts and Head, School of Dance & Theatre, you will be responsible for the academic leadership and management of the programme with the aim to achieve students’ learning outcomes.
Your key responsibilities include overseeing the curriculum and its continuing development, the planning and coordination of classes and managing students’ projects and performances relevant to the programme. You will ensure high levels of quality assurance to meet academic standards. In addition, you will manage the programme efficiently within the allotted resources and budget, which includes selection and management of part-time staff and a range of visiting artists.
In addition to academic leadership and administration, you will also undertake the teaching of the Diploma in Performance programme as well as other programmes within the School of Dance & Theatre and the Faculty of Performing Arts.
As Programme Leader, you will also provide strong and active commitment to the encouragement and furtherance of staff professional development, practice and research. We encourage applications from individuals with an established professional practice and research profile.
Requirements:
- Postgraduate qualification, preferably at PhD or MFA level, with substantial professional practice in a relevant field.
- At least eight years full-time equivalent of tertiary-level teaching experience with knowledge of Higher Education Quality Assurance Framework and at least five years of full-time professional experience in a relevant performing arts field.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching performing arts within a multicultural context, with a strong awareness of the performing arts landscape in Singapore and the surrounding regions.
- At least seven years or equivalent in course/programme management, including team-building and management.
- Proven ability in managing curriculum planning, programme budget and delivery.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students through diverse delivery methods.
- Experience in teaching acting, particularly through the lens of Stanislavskian approaches/techniques, alongside other methods.
- Ability to teach acting for camera, with good knowledge of local theatre companies and their work considered an advantage.
- Ability to work well as a member of a team and collaborate with colleagues at all levels.
- Good pastoral care skills.
- A positive attitude to research in performing arts and educational fields, and preferably a personal research profile and ability to mentor emerging researchers.
- Understanding of student recruitment processes and promotion of student work through social media platforms.
