Programme Leader (BA (Hons) Music Business)
LASALLE’s School of Contemporary Music is launching the new BA (Hons) Music Business programme—the first dedicated music business degree in Singapore focusing on nurturing the next generation of managers, agents and producers.
The programme will focus on equipping graduates with the skills and knowledge required to work in commercial aspects of the music business, including talent management, music marketing, label management, music entrepreneurship and music production, with the first intake starting in August 2025.
We seek to appoint a Programme Leader who will be responsible for the programme’s strategic and operational matters. Key responsibilities will include teaching, curriculum development, planning and coordination of classes, and managing students' projects and productions.
You will also manage the programme efficiently within the allotted resources and budget, including selecting and managing part-time staff and a range of visiting artists. The role requires the candidate to build strong pathways between industry and academia, lead the delivery of the curriculum, and establish collegial and collaborative relationships within LASALLE and the University of the Arts Singapore.
Requirements:
- A postgraduate qualification, preferably at PhD or DMA level or, a minimum of a master’s degree is required.
- At least 10 years of full-time tertiary or equivalent teaching experience and a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in the contemporary music industry, with a recognised domestic and/or international profile.
- At least seven years or the equivalent in course/programme management and the supervision and development of teaching staff.
- Proven ability to manage curriculum planning, programme budget, and programme delivery.
- Ability to engage students through a range of delivery modes and learning modalities.
- Experience in teaching music business within a multicultural context and an awareness of the music sector in Singapore and Southeast Asia are desirable.
- Good analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work well as a team member and collaborate with colleagues at all levels.
- Good pastoral care skills.
- A positive attitude to research in music and creative business and entrepreneurship fields, preferably a personal research profile and the ability to mentor emerging researchers.
