Manager (Student Care and SEN Support)

The Division of Student Administration is seeking a highly driven individual with a passion for the arts and arts education to join us as Manager (Student Care and Wellness). Reporting to the Director and Senior Manager, you will strengthen and enhance the care, wellness and resilience of students by ensuring appropriate policies, procedures and programmes are in place and implemented. This includes managing the support of students with special education needs (SEN), counselling support and proactively responding to student emergencies.

This role is employed directly by the University of the Arts Singapore Limited.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and implement student wellness programmes and SEN support policies.
  • Organise wellness initiatives to foster resilience and self-help strategies among students.
  • Manage student emergencies as the first point of contact for crisis intervention.
  • Provide support for SEN students, including interviews, interventions and inclusive education initiatives.
  • Engage with stakeholders such as parents and external agencies to ensure holistic student support.
  • Supervise and lead a team to uphold the highest standards in student care and wellness.
  • Drive continuous improvement through policy reviews, service evaluation and student surveys.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education or related discipline from an established university.
  • Professional certification in counselling is an advantage.
  • At least 12 to 15 years of similar experience in supporting students with SEN is required, preferably in an institution of higher learning, of which at least five years and above in a managerial role.
  • Strong expertise in student wellness, crisis management, and SEN support.
  • Proven track record in provision of student care and wellness services, in addition to management of crisis and student cases in an educational institution.
  • Passionate about and strongly committed to supporting students in their well-being.
  • Meticulous, proactive and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Good supervisory and people management skills, with the ability to manage and interact at all levels.
  • Appreciation and sensitivity to arts and culture and the development of young people through education.
  • Ability to work across cultures with different individuals and bodies such as students, parents, government and constituencies where appropriate.
  • Ability to embrace a student-centric service culture.
