The Straits Times: LASALLE, NAFA arts educators in the spotlight

Three private art galleries at Tanjong Pagar Distripark ­— 39+ Art Space, Art Agenda and Gajah Gallery — are focusing on the practices of arts educators at LASALLE College of the Arts and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA).

39+ Art Space’s Thinking About Abstraction, Part I exhibition features five artists from LASALLE’s faculty, including senior fellow Milenko Prvacki and lecturer Jeremy Sharma.

The exhibition at Art Agenda pairs the works of LASALLE founder Brother Joseph McNally with those of 20th-century Singaporean sculptor Shui Tit Sing.

Gajah Gallery has also planned a major survey of 16 LASALLE and NAFA artists. Its working title, Which Is Which?, is indicative of curator John Tung’s desire to interrogate the similarities and differences among the artists who have passed through the two art schools with their distinctive pedagogies and philosophies
