Dance Movement Therapy
This course uses the creative and expressive aspects of body movement and dance to support emotional transformation and integration. Participants will explore new movement patterns for growth and well-being through a mix of taught movement exercises, bodywork, guided improvisation and movement exploration, as well as pair and group activity. A background in dance is not required.
About the trainer
Cerise Tean is a dance movement therapist registered with the Association of Dance Movement Psychotherapy in the UK. Her exposure to and training in contemporary dance inspired her to reach out to the community and work with people living with Parkinson's disease, dementia and stroke as well as children, youths and young adults with special needs.
Cerise continues to work with the young and older, enabling them to encounter and navigate various movement techniques that not only enhance body-mind connection, but also celebrate their bodies at whatever stage of life.
She holds a Master of Arts in Dance Movement Psychotherapy from the University of Derby and attained a Dance for Parkinson’s disease introductory training certification with Mark Morris Dance Group and Inspirees Institute. Cerise is a founding member of Movemental.
