Event details

Devised by Jareo Osamu, Totsu-totsu dance (which translates to “faltering” or “unsophisticated” dance), encompasses physical and non-physical ways of communicating, creating new ways for people living with dementia to interact with those around them.

Totsu-totsu dance shakes up the often-fixed nature of relationships between “caregiver” and “care receiver” and meets each person as capable, responsive and able to shape the encounter with another.

This event is the grand finale of Jareo Osamu’s week-long residency at LASALLE. It is an opportunity to access the Totsu-Totsu Dance Toolkit, a free resource designed for care partners, caregivers and facilitators interested to learn about and use this method.

Co-organised by MA Arts Pedagogy and Practice and MA Music Therapy programmes, with Passion & Purpose Asia and torindo. Supported by Japan Foundation and Dementia Singapore.
