JUNGSAEMMOOL's (JSM) brand philosophy emphasises that everyone is born with their own unique beauty. From this perspective, makeup is understood not only as a means of change or enhancement, but also as a ritual of looking closely at and understanding one's innate beauty.

Building on this philosophy, Surface Tension takes the individual body as a starting point for self-discovery, considering it not merely as a passive barrier to be altered, but as an active participant in the ongoing process of understanding oneself.

The exhibition focuses particularly on skin, not simply as a surface to be decorated, but as the part of our body that connects us to the world. Through selected works from the Performative Bodies and Wearable Art studio electives, Surface Tension explores how the body reflects and responds to the various tensions that arise as we develop our sense of identity and place within the world.

The elective Sound — A Mutual Tuning explores sound as a medium of creative expression and listening as a strategy for critical inquiry.

The evening begins with a soundwalk led by Chong Li-Chuan, followed by a listening party featuring works by students from Sound — A Mutual Tuning.

From listening to the sounds of a place to attending to the sonic worlds created by others, the two sessions offer different approaches to listening—as a way of being present, of perceiving, and of relating to the world around us.

Led by Chong Li-Chuan, this soundwalk invites participants to listen to the Winstedt Campus beyond its visual landscape.

Through attentive listening, we consider how sound shapes our perception of place, how we inhabit our surroundings, and how the everyday sonic environment reveals itself when we pause to listen.

Cinema for the Ear is a listening party hosted by Chong Li-Chuan and featuring works by students from Sound — A Mutual Tuning.

Moving away from the primacy of the visual, the session brings together different sonic compositions, narratives and experiments, opening up possibilities for imagining spaces, images and experiences through sound.

Unarchive - Screens and Zines brings together students from the Video Art and Artist Book and Zine Making studio electives for an evening of moving images and independent publishing.

Featuring a selection of video works, artist books and zines, the event explores different approaches to storytelling, experimentation and artistic expression across screen and page.

From time-based narratives to tactile, self-published works, the presentation invites audiences to encounter the diverse ways artists engage with images, sequences and the act of making and sharing stories.

Bringing together two distinct yet complementary practices, the evening celebrates the possibilities of artistic expression through both moving images and printed matter.
