Research Projects & Publications

Research publications by LASALLE Academics

LASALLE members of staff are prominently involved in a large variety of research activities and projects, leading to publication in peer-reviewed academic journals and books and invitations to present at international conferences. These publications evidence the significant contributions that practising artists can add to research into art and design in the 21st century.

The artist-researcher is at the intersection of – and breaks down barriers between – theory and practice, and combines creative doing with reflexive being. Practice-research at its best is not just a combination of creative practice and theoretical research, but rather a practice that embodies research. As such, practice-as-research practitioners are often forward-looking auteurs, pioneers, inventors, and influencers, simultaneously artistic and scientific, systematic, and instinctive, and they know no boundaries.

Formed by a faculty of Singaporean and international artists and educators from more than 40 countries worldwide, LASALLE provides a unique environment for research. With support from the College's four new research schemes, as well as through dedicated human resource policies, LASALLE academics continue their involvement in high-level academic research as well as in practice-research projects of international significance.
