Built from corrugated cardboard, one of the most ordinary materials imaginable, these wearable sculptures showcase students’ creative exploration.
Created by Year 1 Diploma in Fine Arts students as part of their Craft module, the works demonstrate how simple materials can be shaped, layered, cut, bent and assembled into imaginative three-dimensional forms that feel part wearable sculpture, part fashion experiment, part costume and part storytelling props.
Some creations appear playful and humorous, while others lean toward the futuristic, surreal, monstrous or oddly elegant, demonstrating the diversity of creative exploration. Together, they reveal how everyday materials can carry personality, emotion and narrative when approached with curiosity and experimentation, encouraging viewers to appreciate different artistic approaches.
More than just headgear, these artworks reflect a small world worn on the head. Through research, sketches, material exploration and lots of creative imagination, students crafted designs that balance creativity with structure, wearability and storytelling.
Each piece becomes a moving character, an extension of identity and imagination, inviting viewers into a parade of strange, curious and wonderfully constructed stories that spark curiosity and emotional connection.
