When a projectile moves fast enough to deflect off a surface, a ricochet takes place. A target an artist aims for and strikes can result in consequential returns–a different outcome may emerge from what was intended, but one can find new meaning in such developments and divergences. As artists, we respond and reflect; as we create, we inevitably contemplate.
Likewise in our psyche, electric ideas skip across neurons, clashing and merging in a violent dance of thought. Yet it is this process that leads to moments of clarity, as we glean new knowledge and realisations that aid our art-making process. And so, with this exhibition, the act of self-reflection becomes manifest as these artists allow us to witness a glimpse into meditations on the past and present, of failures and triumphs –the coming together of internal ricochets
