Symposium

Inspired by Singapore’s vision to promote inclusive communities, the MA Music Therapy symposium will bring together thought leaders, educators, researchers and practitioners to explore the intersection of music therapy, technology and AI-driven innovation in advancing equitable and inclusive practices.

The symposium will provide a platform for cross-sector dialogue on how the creative arts, technology and evidence-based research can collaborate to contribute towards a more inclusive society, aligning with Singapore’s national agenda for accessibility, lifelong learning and fostering inclusive communities.

Organised by LASALLE’s MA Music Therapy programme in conjunction with World Music Therapy Week, the symposium will feature the programme’s first Artist in Residence Dr Petra Kern, former president of the World Federation of Music Therapy (WFMT) and Fulbright Specialist.

The symposium will consist of three sessions:

Session 1 Driving organisational change for inclusion: insights from Sinfonía por el Perú on implementing sustainable, community-driven music-based models.

Session 2 Advancing accessibility through technology: the role of assistive music technologies in developing independence and participation for individuals with disabilities.

Session 3 The creative arts therapies in healthcare and education: a panel discussion on the status of data-driven research in music therapy and arts therapy, adaptive interventions and ethical considerations regarding AI integration.
