What’s deep brown, light and springy, pleasantly cool and damp? Yes it’s compost! But what exactly is compost and why is it so beneficial to the earth?
Join Grace, Kamilya, Maefrize and Melissa—students of LASALLE’s MA Arts and Ecology programme—to find out how composting benefits our ecosystem. Spend an afternoon learning about how to rescue ‘ordinary’ waste and return it to the earth as life-giving material.
Contribute your own fruit and vegetable waste in a hands-on demo and learn how to carry on composting in your own home. What’s more, you may even walk home with a plant-based ink tattoo!
This composting project, developed as an MA Arts and Ecology student group project, contributes to The Land Between A + B, an initiative of the McNally School of Fine Arts. It explores land-based and earth-based practices for responsive and responsible making, reflecting our concern for the immediate, local environment while tackling larger, wider matters of ecological justice.
