Event details

Patchwork littered nests,
Many a frail twig and such
Heart built house of thought.

Don’t Judge The Pigeon’s Nest surveys the motley of artistic undertakings by the graduating cohort of the BA (Hons) Fine Arts programme. A presentation of works in progress, the show unpacks the locus of art–making through reflections on sincerity, celebrating attempts and persistence.

Reconsidering the seemingly crude constructions of pigeon nests as fragile yet tenacious creations, the title also speaks to a re-evaluation of artistic merit, honouring each practitioner’s assemblages that embody commitment, process and care. Each work, in their own states of incubation, are nested in containers of individual artistic practice, carefully crafted with twigs of intention, scraps of experimentation and fragments of self-expression.

Don’t Judge The Pigeon’s Nest features young practitioners situated on the cusp of fledging, and invites viewers to regard these unpolished states as passionate creative convictions. These are works of art made by people full of feeling and sincerity.
