Course details
Gain basic skills in video editing with DaVinci resolve software. Participants will be introduced to the theory and techniques of creative film editing and learn how to be competent with video editing.
At the end of the course, you will learn how to edit videos from various sources and create short video montages.

About the trainer
Cheng Shian Wen
Cheng Shian Wen is an adjunct lecturer, filmmaker and content creator with over a decade of teaching and industry experience across multiple media formats. Active in the creative industry since 2011, his work spans filmmaking, editing, photography and digital content production, with an emphasis on practical, industry-relevant workflows.
He has been a part-time lecturer since 2013, focusing on bridging his professional experience and insights with accessible, skills-based learning. Alongside his teaching and industry work, he continues to explore emerging tools and techniques, including the use of AI in media production, as well as how evolving media practices can be used to equip learners with adaptable, current real-world creative skills.

Prospective film/photography students and/or anyone interested in video editing. Pre-requisite: Basic computer knowledge and literacy in file transfer. Some experience in shooting personal videos on phone or camera strongly recommended.
