Riduan Zalani is one of Singapore’s most prominent percussionists, celebrated for his versatility in both traditional and contemporary drumming. He co-founded Nadi Singapura Ltd in 2011 and serves as its artistic director, revitalising Malay instruments such as the kompang, rebana, jidur and gendang by blending tradition with modern performance.
In 2018, he released his solo album Gelombunk and instructional DVD That Beat of Faith, both highlighting the rebana asli and his commitment to Malay percussion. His accolades include the Goh Chok Tong Promise Award (2006), the Singapore National Day Silver Award (2009), the Singapore Youth Award (2013) and the Young Artist Award (2015), recognising his contributions to Malay music.
A sought-after performer, Riduan has collaborated with ensembles including Semangat Keris, OrkeStar Trio, Orkestra Melayu Singapura, Wicked Aura, Batucada Sound Machine (New Zealand) and the One Asia Classic Orchestra (Japan), cementing his place on Singapore’s cultural stage.
