John Clang is an internationally acclaimed photographer and filmmaker, recognised for both his commercial collaborations and deeply personal artistic work. He has worked with brands such as Hermès, Adidas and IBM, and his photography is part of the permanent collection at the Singapore Art Museum. In 2010, he became the first photographer to receive the President’s Design Award, Singapore’s highest accolade in design.
John's films have been celebrated on the global stage. His debut feature, Their Remaining Journey (2018), premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and was the opening film for the Painting with Light Festival at the National Gallery Singapore. His subsequent works, A Love Unknown (2020) and Absent Smile (2022, co-directed with Lavender Chang), continued to gain international recognition.
He has held major solo exhibitions in New York, Paris, Los Angeles, Beijing, Hong Kong and Singapore, and participated in prominent group shows in London, Milan, Florence, Istanbul and Dubai.
