Genevieve Chua is a multidisciplinary artist recognised with the NAC Georgette Chen Scholarship (2003/4) and the Young Artist Award (2012). At LASALLE, she embraced the freedom to work across genres, developing a practice that explores abstraction through diagram, palimpsest, syntax and glitch. Often disrupting conventional forms of exhibition—image, text or object—through painting, her work frequently revisits themes of nature and wilderness, reframed through her experimental approach.
She has held solo exhibitions including Wilful Machine (2024, Singapore), grrrraaanularrrrrrr (2023, Singapore), Twofold (2020, Singapore), Moths (2015, Hong Kong) and Cicadas Cicadas (2014, Los Angeles). Chua also presented Artificially Intelligent at APT (2021, Brisbane) and was awarded the IMPART Award, Artist Category in 2020, affirming her ongoing contribution to contemporary visual arts.
