Beginning his career in the early 2000s, Pavan J Singh is a highly experienced actor, theatre-artist and performing arts educator.
As an actor, Pavan has worked with some of the most prominent theatre companies in Singapore and internationally, such as TheatreWorks, Esplanade Theatres by the Bay, Checkpoint Theatre, Dramabox, Singapore Repertory Theatre, Singapore International Festival of the Arts, Centre dramatique national de Tours (France), The Actors Studio (Kuala Lumpur), Masakini Theatre (Kuala Lumpur) and many others. He has also worked for highly-reputable Singaporean film production houses including Weiyu Films, Mediacorp, Mocha Chai Laboratories, Monochromatic Pictures and BananaMana Films.
As a theatre-artist, he has created, directed and produced his own works in Singapore and overseas, consequently gaining recognition both locally as well as at international festivals. One of his independent works, Refuge, has gone on to perform at the The Hollywood Fringe Festival in Los Angeles, the Camden Fringe Festival in London and the United Solo Festival in New York, where it earned very positive reviews, as well as an Encore Producers' Award in Los Angeles and a Best New York Debut Award.
Pavan was co-artistic director of Skinned Knee Productions for seven years until 2017. Under that banner, he wrote, performed, directed and produced a dozen theatre productions or theatre-based works for both artistic and commercial endeavours. Such works were created both independently as well as in collaboration with other organisations for corporate and educational events.
At LASALLE, in addition to being Programme Leader for the Diploma in Performance, Pavan teaches subjects such as acting, comedy and improvisation to students in various programmes, as well as directs productions occasionally.
