Guo Ningru was first exposed to sound design as a student in LASALLE College of the Arts' Diploma in Technical Theatre Arts programme. After graduation, she contributed to the sound design of many musicals, plays and performances in Singapore.

In 2016, Ning was a recipient of the National Arts Scholarship by the National Arts Council, Singapore. She graduated with a Masters of Fine Arts in Sound Design from University of California, Irvine's esteemed programme in 2019. Her MFA thesis, 'Going Immersive: The Case for Spatial Audio Systems in Theatre Sound Design', details the rationale, methods and currently available technologies for spatial audio in theatre and the performing arts.

Her recent works include All The World’s A Sea (The Theatre Practice), Infinitely Closer and Strangely Familiar (both by T.H.E. Dance Company).

In recent years, Ning served as the senior sound designer in the music production department of the Music and Drama Company, working on various music productions, recording, mixing and sound designing short films.

Ning was awarded the National Arts Council’s Young Artist Award in 2022, which recognised her achievements and contributions to the local and international arts scene.
