Chin Tyng has been teaching at LASALLE since 1994, bringing extensive experience in both design and education. She began her journey as a lecturer in the Jewellery Design programme, teaching at both diploma and degree levels and combining deep industry knowledge with a strong commitment to nurturing creative talents.
Over the years, Chin Tyng expanded her teaching portfolio to include Level 1 Foundation studies in Fine Art—later known as Visual Studies—under the School of Creative Industries. She has played a key role in curriculum development, notably designing the 3D Studies module for first-year students.
Currently, Chin Tyng leads LASALLE’s Pastoral Care Team, spearheading initiatives that support students’ personal growth and academic success. She has been instrumental in shaping the College’s pastoral care framework and collaborates closely with colleagues to enhance student support services across the institution. Her approach is grounded in professional training in mindfulness and mental well-being, holding certifications in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (Brahm Centre), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Strategic Awareness Training (Singapore Management University).
Committed to holistic student development, Chin Tyng actively pursues ongoing professional learning and stays up-to-date on international best practices in student support. She is also exploring the integration of mentoring and coaching models to help students develop resilience, self-awareness and personal growth throughout their academic journey.
