Aloysius is a musician, educator, music director, composer and music arranger in the musical theatre and opera scene in Singapore.

Over the past decade, Aloysius has established himself as an accomplished repétitéur for many local opera companies including Singapore Lyric Opera, Opera Viva, Orchestra of Music Makers and The Musician’s Initiative. He is also a regular music director for L’Arietta Productions, specialising in contemporary operas and local compositions, including the 2020 commissioning of The Singapore Trilogy Suite by local composer Chen Zhangyi for the Straits Times, and the Asian premiere of The Last Silent Voice by George N. Gianopoulos at the Voices – A Festival of Song 2021 at Esplanade.

Aloysius’s teaching and research focus is in the correlation between the actor and the musician. The actor-muso style of presentation (where the actor is also the musician) is a concept that he explores both in his work, and as an interest in the study of the execution of such modes of performing. At LASALLE, he helps students develop a further understanding of how acting and music support one another and understand how storytelling can be done through music. He works with students to develop new original works such as cabarets and mini-musicals, during which he guides students in song compositions and music arrangement.

Aloysius obtained his Masters in Music from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2012, where he was also awarded the MMUS Prize award for Excellence in Academics, and also the First Prize in the Edward Brooks English Song Prize accompaniment category.
