Edmund Chia is former painting faculty of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His work has been exhibited at the Andrew Rafacz Gallery, ADDS DONNA, Dominican University (all in Illinois); Homeland Security (Texas); and American Fantasy Classics (Wisconsin).

Chia is also founder and former director of the artist space PEREGRINEPROGRAM, through which he had organised exhibitions of artists including: Whitney Biennial co-curator Michelle Grabner; National Academy member Susanna Coffey; and former president of American Abstract Artists Don Voisine. Shows at PEREGRINEPROGRAM by designer David Salkin, British School at Rome Abbey Fellow Jonathan Baldock, Hoffberger School of Painting director Joan Waltemath, and curator Karsten Lund have been reviewed in many notable platforms.

A keen interest in the many spaces – of painting, sculpture, exhibition, and the page – drives Chia's explorations. Most recently, he has published RE: things in the lap, a book recollecting the first three years of PEREGRINEPROGRAM's history.
