S–J Art Project marks a new Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) initiative between LASALLE College of the Arts, and Temple University, Japan Campus. This project brings together students across Singapore and Japan through a series of online exchanges, fostering dialogue, collaboration and shared creative inquiry.
This initiative explores the dynamics of learning across cultures and contexts, encouraging students to respond not only to their own environments but also to those of their peers. The process highlights how meaning can shift through interpretation, translation and collaboration.
Through lectures, tutorials, discussions and independent exploration, students engage in a process that emphasises experimentation, reflection and adaptability. The resulting works presented in this exhibition reflect a collective journey of discovery, where the familiar is reexamined, and the unseen is brought into focus through shared artistic practice.
The 2025/26 iteration of the S–J Art Project was centred on the theme “The Unseen Art”. It invited students to observe and reinterpret overlooked elements in everyday life, from objects and spaces to fleeting moments. Through the exchange of images, texts and visual responses, participants built on one another’s ideas, transforming initial observations into layered, evolving artworks.
