2D animation specialist Shamine Athena King is the top student of LASALLE’s graduating class of 2013 and the recipient of LASALLE’s most prestigious honour, the McNally Award for Excellence in the Arts. The McNally Award recognises not only academic excellence but also outstanding artistic achievements and contributions to the creative profession.

Shamine’s perfectionism, drive and undeniable talent have resulted in a remarkable portfolio of creative work. She is also well known online, with a strong following of over 20,000 subscribers on the world’s largest art community website, deviantART.com. For her graduation project, Honour Amongst Thieves, she directed professional voice actors in a piece exploring themes of gender equality, religion and government.

While still an undergraduate at LASALLE, Shamine was commissioned by gaming heavyweight Ubisoft to design and produce posters for their best-selling game Assassin’s Creed. Her work also toured Southeast Asia after she won a Moleskine sketchbook competition, and she has been commissioned to illustrate a children’s book.

As a comic artist, Shamine has made it her mission to make people laugh and brighten their days with her work. She is currently a Teaching Assistant in LASALLE’s BA (Hons) Animation Art programme.
