Gracia Goh

2021

Gracia is a communications designer with a keen interest in critical design and human-centred design methodologies. With a background in mass communication, she also dabbles in a range of other creative fields including photography, videography and web development. She believes in design as a method of challenging assumptions, preconceptions and conventional thinking.

Beyond the commercial design practices, Gracia aims to inspire a nuanced understanding of issues by utilising design as a communication strategy. In her work, she enjoys using speculative design and humour to educate and engage the public on important civic issues. This is showcased in her graduation project, Not-So-Public Public, which challenges the politicisation of public space in Singapore by highlighting Singaporeans’ predominant role as a consumer over citizen in society.

In her second year, Gracia was part of a team that impressed judges at the RSA Student Design Awards in London with their project COHO, a design proposal for a transitional housing community that would provide low-income single parent households with stable and comfortable housing while empowering them with skills to lead them towards self-reliance. COHO won the CIM Award and sparked Gracia’s interest in design as a social catalyst.

Currently a communications designer at design consultancy Chemistry, she leverages the human-centred design methodology for business innovation and the promotion of social good.
